Lazy River Water Fun in Orlando Florida

Water fun in Orlando Florida is a small collection of short video clips meant to help you plan cheap/low cost days out in Orlando Florida as a break away from the theme parks.
Most Orlando guidebooks will write about the theme parks, but many visitors or vacationers to Orlando Florida will seek out low cost or free ways to have fun away from the theme parks.
So this video tries to demonstrate how much fun can be had by looking at the Florida State Parks, rivers, lakes, waterways and the local wildlife, as well as hint at the many Orlando festivals which are held throughout this area.
Starting in the Dora Canal (see a separate video for more), where you might see every type of wildlife, the Dora Canal has been named as the most beautiful mile of waterway in the USA.
We go next to Lake Harris, near to Tavares which is the geographical center of Florida. They have annual dragon boat races here in aid of charity.
The Eustis Speed boat races are held every year on Lake Eustis, and this is a great day out if you are in Orlando Florida at this time.
The city of Eustis holds a monthly street party, and a dinner train runs from here nightly.
Next on the video is a fleeting glimpse of Haines Creek, part of the Ocklawaha River flowing from Lake Eustis into Lake Griffin, on its way to Silver Springs where there is a nature based theme park.
All of these locations are in whats called locally as the Golden Triangle, which is on highway 441 about 35 miles north-west of Orlando.
Finally to end this videotape I,ve kept the best till last.
Lazy River Tubing is great fun for all ages, but it,s not often you can discover good quality Lazy Rivers such as what is here, but at Kelly Park, Rock Springs, Apopka, Orlando, Florida you can have the time of your life in a Lazy River.
Admission for the day is only $1 for adults, children under 5 free. Open year round.
Mess about in the crystal clear warm water of Rock Springs Lazy Rive water which bubbles out of the rocks and meanders down about half a mile of Lazy River ending in a huge pool.
It’s this stretch where you can float slowly along in an inner tube.
Once you reach the large pool, more fun can be enjoyed by splashing about in this huge shallow area, or you can travel back to the headwaters along the well maintained wooden boardwalks which have been constructed to be friendly to bare feet, and ride the Lazy River all over again as many times as you wish.
Its not only tubers who enjoy this beautiful relaxing park, for the Lazy River is quite shallow and therefore very safe for children and non swimmers, so you will find children and adults of all ages splashing about in the Lazy River which is the main tube run.
Be aware that tube rental is not possible once inside of the park, but from vendors just close to the entrance gates, and the cost for tube rental is only $2 or $3 daily.
You are allowed to bring your own tube of course. After all of this free activity fun in the Lazy River, you will no doubt have an appetite for some serious food.
The Florida Park service has thought of this too, and placed barbecue equipment all around the park in tree shaded areas where there are many picnic tables for your free use, so take those steaks and salads with you and make a full day of this great water themed facility.
If you cant drag yourself away at the end of the day, camping sites are available for about $15 nightly.
For the enjoyment of the majority, no pets and no fishing is allowed in Rock Springs park, and your admission ticket allows you to leave and return any time that same day.

De Leon Springs State Park Florida, sometimes called Ponce De Leon Springs, this Orlando Florida tourist park covers 611 acres, built around a natural spring pouring out about 20 million gallons every day at a constant 72 degrees.
This is the swimming, snorkeling and scuba area, 170 feet across and 500 feet in diameter. Depths range from 18″ to 30′ at the spring boil.
This Florida State Recreation area on St John river is just a few miles North of Blue Springs State Park on State road 17, about 35 miles north of Orlando.
The Orlando Florida tourist will need a full day to explore DeLeon Springs Florida, as it is mainly a park for the whole family to enjoy with many varied activities.
Book in advance with the Park Rangers if you need a pavilion for the day.
An old Spanish sugar mill with huge paddle wheel converted into a visitor center, grill and griddle house serves a mixture to make your own pancakes on a hot griddle which is recessed into the center of every table.This is also the place for Canoe, kayak, inner tube and paddleboat rentals.
Picnic areas with tables and grills as well as pavilions are available, as well as slides and climbing frames located near the restaurant and restrooms.
A 500 year old cypress tree, pines and many other native plants can be seen from a paved nature trail, or join the 4 mile loop Wild Persimmon Hiking Trail for wildlife viewing of animals and birds.
Launch your own boat and fish in Spring Garden Creek or explore 18,000 acres of lakes by canoe.
Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Reserve can be visited by joining a boat tour in the park, and sailing up the St.John River.

Blue Springs State Park Manatees Fl
Blue Springs State Park is about 30 miles North of Orlando, just 2 miles West of Orange City along French Avenue, not far from another of Florida State Parks, Deleon Springs.
I have always found, without exception that Florida State Parks are always well organised for the visitor, especially Blue Springs State Park which is well patrolled by wardens, and a really safe place to visit.
Blue Springs State Park is a designated manatee refuge, well known for its manatee migration during the winter months. Manatees are sometimes called Sea Cows, and resemble a mini submarine.

Dora Canal trip Orlando Florida
The city of Tavares, the geographical center of Florida, is just a few miles up Highway 441 from Mount Dora, and possibly the best location to start out on a tour of the Dora Canal.
Several tour boats start from here, which is just about a half mile from the canal, and whichever starting point you choose, do not miss out on this marvel of nature.
Pontoon boat tours to the Dora Canal from Tavares are from $20.Tavares is perhaps just 30 to 40 miles north of the Theme Parks, less than an hours drive up either Highway 27 to the West, or Orange Blossom Trail/441.
